Hi! I art direct ads, design graphics, write books, and code sites. I've recently relocated to Los Angeles, and have worked at agencies in London, California and Toronto. Despite my tendency to say "aboot", I have a US passport and am interested in full-time or freelance opportunities. I have worked at john st., Zulu Alpha Kilo and kbs+ and have freelanced at JWT, Tribal/DDB, The&Partnership and more. Check out my work below, or say hello!

THE KEG

The well-known and loved Canadian restaurant chain The Keg, underwent a rebrand and I was the key Art Director and Designer. The first step was developing hundreds of logos all aiming to be modern and sophisticated while also keeping in mind that the logo would need to be legible for fans viewing it from afar at various sports events. We then developed print, banner ads, stationery, and updated the website. Soon after TV was developed to position The Keg as a high-end steakhouse and bar. TARGET

We developed a promo video to help introduce Target's credit card to Canada. The challenge? Making a somewhat dry topic fun. From look development, storyboarding and casting, to choosing and working with amazing animation studio Brand New School, I was involved in all aspects of production. Watch the video here. As part of the campaign, a Direct Mail piece, print ad and banner ads were also produced. Since we wanted to feature real products, we shot actual products rather than continue with the illustrative look, however we kept in line with the joyful Target brand by stacking the products haphazardly in a cart and making banner ads that animated each product in one at a time. ROOTS OUTFITTERS

2013

Here I was tasked with connecting Canadian brand, Roots, with style-saavy Target in time for their Canadian launch. We wanted to show how Target could seamlessly fit into Canadian culture by combining Roots clothes with Target basics in a high-fashion light. We also wanted to create an in-store space rich in Canadian iconography to show how Target was embracing Canada. From Art Directing the photoshoot and working with the stylist to pair Roots clothing with Target brands, to storyboarding the Behind-the-Scenes video (watch here), to envisioning the in-store environment and creating a detailed pre-pro deck, I worked to integrate the two brands in a stylish and Canadian light. SPRITE COMMERCIAL

2011-2012

Worked on putting together a commercial for Sprite using a mix of previous and new footage.
Suzanne Pope and I aimed to create a fun, upbeat, cohesive story that would speak to their young demo and position Sprite as a refreshing, lemony beverage. The biggest challenge was to find a catchy new tune that had build-up and worked with the exploding visual. Watch the video here here . SHOPPERS DRUGMART

2014

Created a digital campaign aiming to drive people to the Shoppers Drugmart website. Customers were encouraged to submit funny or happy moments they've had while at Shoppers to unlock exclusive deals. These moments would then be designed beautifully on the SDM website encouraging people to share them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest. We would also create a weekly episode called "Between the Aisles" that would present a funny or emotional Shoppers moment and feature products. Customers were given Optimum point incentives to share the videos on social media. Agency: Brightworks Copywriter: Jeff Middleton ECD: Grace Marquez

ALCON

I worked on a pitch (which we won) for Alcon's Hydraglyde formula in their Opti-Free and ClearCare products. We wanted to show how HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix helps to keep lenses comfortable all day long, so our target can stay focused on what really matters. We did this by showcasing three Canadians in very different jobs. They would tell their story via social media, videos, in-store appearances and print. We also created banner ads, brochures and social posts.

PUREX

We were asked to create a warm, family-friendly spot for Purex bathroom tissue. Our insight is that when you're a fan of Purex, no other toilet paper will do. So just like in the commercial we wrote, where a little boy texts his family from a bathroom in the park asking for Purex, we wanted to offer the same courtesy to Purex lovers in real life. For one day we posted signs in women's washrooms in West Edmonton Mall and had Mom-types hand deliver Purex to the bathroom stalls. View spot hereAgency: john st. FIDO

I worked on a pitch for Fido Mobile where they wanted to showcase their new Data plan and low roaming usage fees. Writing partner Kim Gillis and I created a campaign that targeted young mobile owners between the ages of 20-30. We wanted to showcase Millenials as bright, driven explorers. How can Fido's new data plan support their career and travel goals? We created concepts for print, OOH, video, digital, and social that showcased young entrepreneurs and their unique uses for the larger data plan. Agency: john st. REASONS MOMMMY DRINKS

Hilarious blog Reasons Mommy Drinks asked me to create their logo and identity with one ask: that it centres around a soother. I started with the illustration of the soother and came up with several concepts afterwards. They ended up choosing a concept reminiscent of a Pub chalkboard.

DAY+NITE MAGAZINE

I Art Direct and create all the spreads for Day+Nite Magazine with extremely quick turnaround and little to no photography budget. It's a challenge, but I make it work! This is the Red Bull issue where DJs across the globe competed for the title of Thre3style Champion.

SAINSBURY'S | SONY | MOVIEXTRAS

While working at Hixville (now Darkside), I illustrated Christmas icons and designed layouts for Sainsbury's stores in the UK. These ISM materials, including an FSDU and wobblers were advertising Sony's Moviextras program.

WEDDING STATIONERY

While living in England I was asked to create invitations for a wedding that would involve a double-decker bus tour around London. The other ask was to include the couple's dog somewhere on the invite. The result is a fun theme where the invitations look like vintage bus tickets and the table cards like tube stops.

LOST FOREST MEDIA

Worked with business partners Janine and David on the new look for their production company Lost Forest Media. Of course, with two people, it can often be difficult to decide on which logo to go with. Despite providing alternate versions of the leaf logo, all of our hearts were with the tree icon. Layering it on top of the foggy forest image was the icing on the cake.

Before Last Call | Day+Nite Magazine

I created four illustrations, as well as the layout, for Day+Nite Magazine's July 2015 issue with a few days turn around. The article was highlighting the best parks in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal and needed to be bright and friendly.

KICK-ASS

Art Directed a Europe-wide campaign for the movie Kick-Ass. Working closely with Universal I developed all aspects of creative for the film. This included packaging, attention grabbing FSDUs, OOH, Print Ads, Digital Ads, ISM and a limited edition script as a buying incentive. We also made an interactive trailer where viewers could click on characters to learn more about them. Finally, we developed an app (back when apps weren't so commonplace) where you could become your favourite character. ZDW won a BVA for Best Agency that year (2012) which included this project and many others I worked on. Agency: Zero Degrees West (formally MME)

HAND-LETTERING

I love the idea of juxtaposing slightly negative statements with lovely decorative hand-lettering. I started off by drawing out the words with pencil, then scanned them and trace in Illustrator. This is what I do for fun :)
